The Corman Shepherd Diet
Corman Shepherds must be fed a diet that’s been carefully formulated specifically for a small-to-medium dog with medium-to-high levels of energy. These loyal and playful pets usually grow somewhere between 12 and 15 inches in height and can weigh anywhere between 20 and 70 pounds. It’s a big difference between the Corgi and the German Shepherd, hence the different size possibilities.
You can feed your dog high-quality commercial wet or dry food or make the food from scratch at home. It depends on how much time you have and how good you are at it. Although homemade dog food is better as you know for sure what’s inside it if you can’t formulate it to include everything your dog needs, it’s best to stick with commercial food.
If your Corman Shepherd weighs between 12 and 20 pounds, you’ll need to feed it 1 to 1/3 cups of dry food a day. If it weighs between 21 to 35 pounds, 1-1/3 to 2 cups will be recommended. A dog that weighs between 36 and 50 pounds will need to be fed 2 to 2-2/3 cups. And if your dog weighs between 51 and 75 pounds, you should expect to feed it between 2-2/3 to 3-1/3 cups of dry food a day.
Can Corman Shepherds eat chicken? Raw or Cooked?
Corman Shepherds love chicken and it’s a very good food source for them. It contains lots of nutrients regardless if it’s cooked or raw. And if you’re careful about preparing their meals, raw food should be perfectly safe. But if you’re not, it can contain salmonella and other things, which is why raw diets are only recommended for experienced dog owners.
Raw bones are a lot better than the cooked ones as they don’t splinter. But when it comes to cooked chicken, don’t offer your dog your table scraps that have lots of condiments, onion, garlic, etc. You’ll have to cook the chicken plainly and then add it to dog rice or other types of foods. You can boil it or let it sit in the oven for a bit.
How about Peanut Butter?
Peanut butter can be used as treats for training or just to spoil your dog from time to time. It’s a great and tasty treat that is highly motivational for them. Just be sure it doesn’t contain Xylitol, which is an artificial sweetener. It’s very toxic for any animal, not just dogs.
Can Corman Shepherds eat eggs?
Eggs are often preferred by dogs over other traditional treats, especially boiled eggs. They’re high in protein and they can offer quite a bit of Vitamin A and Linoleic Acid. As long as the eggs are not old and you’re not overfeeding your pet, they are more than welcome no matter how they are cooked. Just makes sure they don’t contain any condiments.
Is Turkey Meat OK for Corman Shepherds?
Turkey meat is quite good and most dogs love it. The issue with it is the way you choose to prepare it. If you specifically make it for your dog, plain and simple, then it’s perfectly safe. But if you’re cooking it for yourself, then you should never offer it to your dog. Thanksgiving dinner scraps can be very harmful to dogs as they contain onion and various condiments.
Can Corman Shepherds eat cheese?
Cheese can be found in many American homes as it’s very delicious and popular. And while simple cheese is great as a snack for dogs, others can be harmful. Blue cheese and other types of cheese that are made with herbs, garlic, etc, should be avoided. The added ingredients can harm even the healthiest dog.
Can Corman Shepherd Dogs Eat Apples?
Apples make great snacks for both humans and dogs. And just the same, you will have to wash them well and remove the seeds. Apple seeds contain a small amount of cyanide which can release into the dog’s body after being broken. Other than that, you can let your pet eat apple slices as often as it wants. Apples are a great way to keep your dog’s teeth clean and breath fresh.
How about Oranges?
Oranges are high in acid content and can cause an upset stomach to your dog if it eats too much. The peel is also not recommended for dogs. But the fleshy parts are quite tasty and a lot of dogs love them as an occasional treat. Just make sure you’re removing all the seeds and that you’re not overfeeding your pet.
Can Corman Shepherds Eat Bananas?
Bananas are very popular all over the world and they tend to be quite affordable. But the best thing about them is that they are great as snacks for a wide range of animals, including dogs. They’re tasty fruits and dogs tend to love them as training rewards.
Can Corman Shepherds eat grapes?
Grapes are very popular but they’re also very harmful to dogs, regardless if they’re peeled or seedless. And the sad fact is that there isn’t much known about the toxic substance in grapes. Some dogs might not get anything else besides an upset stomach, while others can die if left untreated. It’s highly recommended to avoid them at all costs while preparing your dog’s meals.
Can you give them blueberries?
Blueberries are excellent for most dogs as they are high in water content and rich in various nutrients. They also contain fiber, antioxidants, Vitamin C and K, etc. A dog’s immune system can benefit a great deal from these nutrients. You can use them as snacks during training or you can add a few blueberries to each meal.
